Save FEMA

(adapted from Joe Katz at Rogan's List 7/14)

The Federal Emergency Management Agency organizes and funds support across the nation for communities hit by natural disasters, a job that is becoming all the more important in the climate change era. Trump has indicated that he will wean states off FEMA after this year's hurricane season, and states should cover the costs of emergency management within their borders with an unspecified amount of reimbursement from Washington. He’s now signed an executive order directing states and localities to do more, and his Secretary of Homeland Security told a cabinet meeting they would eliminate FEMA entirely. This would require an act of Congress, and more importantly: with disasters causing billions and dollars in damage, states and localities simply can’t afford to do the job without them.

Call or email your senators and House rep and tell them to save FEMA and make sure disaster aid gets to the people who need it. Write your own script or use this one:

I am reaching out to urge Senator _______ or Representative _______ to prevent FEMA from being eliminated and make sure the disaster relief gets to the people who need it. We are seeing more and more natural disasters, like the flooding in Central Texas, with massive recovery bills, costing billions. State and local governments just can’t afford to deal with that kind of emergency without FEMA. Please keep FEMA working for us because next time it might be us. Thank you.

Prohibit ICE from Wearing Masks and Concealing Their Identity

(adapted from Jessica Craven at Chop Wood Carry Water 7/10)

We've all seen video of masked, unidentified ICE agents kidnapping people off the streets, from their places of work, etc. Several bills, one in the Senate and three in the House, have been introduced to stop this. Attorney General Letitia James and a coalition of 20 other attorneys general are urging Congress to pass "legislation that prohibits federal immigration agents from wearing masks that conceal their identities and requires them to clearly identify themselves and their agency during civil enforcement actions". Let's do the same. Call or email your senators and House rep and ask them to support these bills.  Write you own scripts or use these:

 To your senators:

The recent actions of ICE agents are outrageous and disturbing. I want the Senator to support the recently introduced Visible Identification Standards for Immigration-Based Law Enforcement (VISIBLE) Act of 2025 (S. 2212), which would require immigration officers to display clear identification and not wear face coverings. Thank you.

To your House rep:

The recent actions of ICE agents are outrageous and disturbing. I want the Congressmember to sign on as a cosponsor for one or more of the bills that have been introduced in the House that require ICE agents to show ID and not wear face coverings when questioning, arresting or detaining someone. These bills include the No Anonymity in Immigration Enforcement ACT (H.R. 4004), the ICE Badge Visibility ACT (H.R 4298), and the No Secret Police Act (H.R. 4176). Thank you.
