Action 1: No Boots on the Ground and No Supplemental Funding for the War in Iran
Adapted from Rogan’s List
Trump’s war against Iran is only growing worse, and skyrocketing prices at the pump are just the beginning of the costs. Thirteen American soldiers and more than 1500 Iranians are dead. But there are red lines he hasn’t crossed yet, the most notable being putting U.S. troops on the ground as we did in Afghanistan and Iraq. It’s hard to gauge how much of a risk this is, but it does seem to be growing by the day. The Pentagon has already sent two Marine expeditionary units to the Middle East, along with the 82nd Airborne.
The most meaningful leverage point Congress will have against Trump’s war in the near future is on the question of how to pay for it. We’re anticipating the White House will ask for $50 billion in supplemental appropriations to fund our attacks on Iran. They’re already spending $1 billion a day, enough to fully restore ACA tax credits and what they cut from Medicaid in Trumps budget.
This bill will be subject to a filibuster, so it’s impossible to pass without significant Democratic support. A handful of Dems have refused to rule out backing supplemental appropriations, and Minority Leader Jeffries has refused to commit to blocking it. There’s also obvious awareness in DC that a yes vote here would count as a backdoor authorization for a war the overwhelming majority of the caucus rejects. This is a fight we can win.
Let’s make it clear to our members of Congress that we reject putting boots on the ground in Iran, and that they shouldn’t spend a single extra penny on this war.
Write your own script or use this one:
I’m one of the two-thirds of Americans dead set against putting boots on the ground in Iran. Please make sure the White House knows Congress will not stand for it. We spent two decades with our troops killing and dying in forever wars in the Middle East. It cost too many lives and too much money. In addition, I want you to oppose any request for supplemental appropriations for Trump’s war. This government wants to spend billions on a war of choice that Americans don’t want, then kick 17 million of us off our health care because ‘we can’t afford it.’ It’s unacceptable. Thank you.
Action 2: Tell Wall St. Banks and Insurers to End Support for Fossil Fuel Expansion
From Rogan’s List 3/26/26
Last week one of the world’s leading energy conferences came to Houston: CERAWeek. It arrived while much of the American west suffers from a record-breaking heatwave and just after the U.N. reported the highest energy imbalance ever recorded – as Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, “every key climate indicator is flashing red.” Hundreds of protesters took to the streets to make sure fossil fuel executives are aware of the depth of opposition to what they’re doing to our future.
Let’s add our voices. Stop The Money Pipeline and the Oil & Gas Action Network are asking us to send a message to major banks and insurers for CERAWeek, demanding they stop bankrolling the expansion of liquified methane gas projects. Follow this link to send your pre-scripted message: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-major-banks-and-insurers-end-support-for-venture-global/?utm_source=roganslist
Action 3: Thank the Judges Who Are Holding the Line
From Rogan's List 3/24/26
Facing threats, political pressure and a Supreme Court that has frequently not had their backs, lower court judges are still doing vitally important work to keep this administration’s power within the bounds of the law. Let’s write a note or postcard to these judges to acknowledge their work and send encouragement to keep fighting!
Judge Brian Murphy ruled that RFK Jr’s attempts to slash the recommended vaccine schedule disregard long term practices, such as being informed by a scientific committee that advises the CDC, and has blocked them for now.
