Action 1: Senate Democrats Must Hold the Line on DHS Funding

The House passed the Senate version of the appropriations package which funded all government agencies through September 30, 2026 except for DHS which was funded for 2 weeks to allow the Senate to continue negotiations on the demands by Democrats to make substantive changes to the way ICE operates. Republicans are opposed to almost everything Democrats are asking for so this will not be easy. It will be up to us to continue to pressure our Senators this week to stay strong and not give in even if it means shutting down DHS until Republicans agree to compromise.

Write your own script or use some variation of the ones below from Jessica Craven at Chop Wood Carry Water 2/3/26.

Now that negotiations on the DHS bill are beginning in earnest I want to say that ICE is a lawless, brutal, racist agency that needs to be abolished. But for now we want every single thing that Democrats have asked for including no masks, more training, body cameras, clear ID for all ICE agents, an end to racial or ethnic profiling, and a requirement to secure judicial warrants. We also want more oversight in detention facilities and independent investigations into the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

For Democratic senators, consider adding: I expect Democrats to play hardball. No concessions, no caving, and no more stopgap funding bills. Republicans have zero leverage in this situation. They’re on the wrong side of history, the law, and public opinion. Make them yield. Thanks.

For Republican senators, consider adding: This cannot be about party or about Republicans trying to “win” this negotiation. People are dying. Children are being teargassed in the streets. Citizens are being abducted. ICE is building massive new concentration camps everywhere. It’s morally repugnant. Please help Democrats achieve their very reasonable demands. Thanks.

Action 2: The Senate Must Not Confirm Kevin Warsh as Fed Chair

Adapted from Rogan’s List 2/1/26

The Federal Reserve Board of Governors is meant to set monetary policy in the United States to achieve maximum employment and stable prices. It has been set up to be independent, setting interest rates without interference from elected officials reacting to short-term incentives. Donald Trump, in his desire for total power and in fury at the Fed’s refusal to ignore the damage done by his tariffs, has taken unprecedented and dangerous action to hijack it.

The president has repeatedly threatened to illegally fire chairman Jerome Powell in response to the board not lowering interest rates, and actually attempted to terminate governor Lisa Cook, although he has so far been barred from doing so. He’s gone as far as having the Justice Department threaten Powell with a criminal indictment. We’ve been repeatedly warned that in doing so, Trump is risking economic catastrophe that the United States will not easily recover from

Last Friday, Trump nominated Kevin Warsh to serve as chair when Powell’s term ends in May. A former inflation hawk, Warsh has not coincidentally shifted his public stance to favoring the lower interest rates the White House so desperately wants. He’s also the son-in-law of Ron Lauder, Trump’s billionaire friend who convinced him to blow up NATO over Greenland.

In the context of the regime’s massive, authoritarian power grab at the Fed, their pick clearly cannot be trusted to serve the interests of the public rather than letting Trump pull his strings. The president has even said flat out that “anybody that disagrees with me will never be the Fed Chairman.”

Let’s call or email our senators and tell them to protect our economy and the independence of the Fed and reject Warsh’s nomination as chairman. Write your own script or use this one.

I am urging the Senator to oppose Kevin Warsh’s nomination as chairman of the Federal Reserve. Donald Trump has made it clear he wants to seize power at the Fed, even at risk of cratering our economy. We can’t trust his handpicked nominee to do what’s right for the public, instead of acting as a puppet.

It would also be ridiculous to treat this like a normal confirmation process while Trump tries to illegally fire and prosecute governors who won’t bend to his will. No Fed nominee can be allowed to move forward until the illegal firing of Lisa Cook and the investigation into Jerome Powell are dropped. Use every power available to stop this from moving forward. Thank you.

Action 3: Join the Resistance Against Data Centers

From Rogan’s List 2/3/26

Our energy bills have climbed 13% since Donald Trump took office. One major factor hitting our wallets is the regime’s campaign against clean energy, and another is rising demand due to data centers. Areas near data centers have seen increases in electricity costs of as much as 267%. It’s going to get worse, as the Big Tech oligarchs who have backed this administration continue to commit to artificial intelligence, and we’re going to pay for it in more ways than one. The unregulated deployment of these massive projects is straining our water resources and worsening the climate crisis – and all to create one (1) job for every $13 million invested while the corporations behind this get billions in sweetheart tax breaks.

Big Tech is spending millions on public relations to sell the American public on these projects, but the pushback has been fierce, and it’s only going to grow

Here's an easy way to help:

Food & Water Watch has launched a new campaign to stop new data centers, working at the local, state and federal level. They have also set up an email tool we can use to encourage our members of Congress to support a national moratorium on new data centers.
