Action 1: Niagara County Residents: End Niagara County's Collaboration With Federal Immigration Authorities

From Stand Up Lockport

The Niagara County Jail is making money by jailing innocent people for federal immigration authorities. In addition, Niagara County Deputies are training to serve as ICE agents, participating in the same type of immigrant abductions that are happening across the country.

If you live in Niagara County and do not want your elected officials and Sheriff collaborating with ICE, CBP or the US Marshalls Service regarding immigration arrests and detention, please sign this petition

Action 2: No funding for DHS without meaningful changes to ICE

adapted from Chop Wood Carry Water 1/29/26

On Friday, Democrats in the Senate forced an agreement to approve 5 of the remaining 6 appropriations bills (excluding DHS) along with a 2-week Continuing Resolution to keep DHS funded at current levels while they negotiate their demands to rein in ICE’s lawless assaults on innocent people around the country. This agreement avoided a partial shutdown of other important DHS entities such as FEMA, TSA, and the Coast Guard. Republicans went along with it because Trump told them to. We'll see whether it passes in the House this week.

In the meantime, let’s make sure our Democratic senators use what leverage they have to secure meaningful and enforceable changes to the way ICE operates before agreeing to any funding for DHS. If your senators are Republican, pressure them to support the Democrats' demands.

Write your own script or use some variation of this one.

I’m glad to hear that the DHS bill has been carved out from the other 5 budget bills and that the Senate is now in discussions about how to rein in ICE. In addition to NO new ICE funding, the following changes should be non-negotiable:

  • An enforceable code of conduct and use-of-force standards for ICE agents consistent with most other law enforcement agencies including visible ID and no face masks, no more quotas or racial profiling, and no stops or searches without a judicial warrant,

  • Independent investigations into the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti,

  • No more family detention and real oversight at detention centers so people are held in a safe and humane way.

Thanks

Action 3: Oppose A Federal Concealed Carry Mandate

Adapted from Rogan’s list 5/28/25

The MAGA Republican-sponsored Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R.38 and S.65) is gaining momentum in the House with 189 Republican cosponsors. It passed the House Judiciary Committee in March 2025 and was added to the House calendar in October so it could receive a vote anytime. Two dozen Republican state attorneys general urged the full House to act on it. This legislation would, if signed into law, require states to “allow anyone who can carry a concealed handgun in their state of residence to carry a concealed handgun in any state - even if the non-state of residency’s laws prohibit the person from possessing a firearm at all.”

Everytown for Gun Safety warns that states would be forced to “allow violent offenders and people with no firearm safety training to carry hidden, loaded handguns within its borders.” Jewish Women International points out the bill would empower domestic abusers. The bill is also opposed by both the Fraternal Order of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police

Follow the link below to the Everytown for Gun Safety website and send a pre-scripted message to your members of Congress telling them to block the passage of this terrible bill. Takes 5 minutes.
