Action 1: New York  Residents: Protect Our Immigrant Neighbors

adapted from Chop Wood Carry Water NY 8/13/25

With the passage of H.R. 1 (the GOP budget bill), Republicans handed Trump and notorious xenophobe Stephen Miller $171 billion to supercharge mass deportations.

The New York for All Act S.2235 (Gounardes) / A3506 (Reyes), which was introduced to the state legislature in March 2025, would limit the collaboration of city and state agencies like law enforcement with federal immigration enforcement unless they provide a judicial warrant. According to a letter sent by a dozen unions to Governor Hochul and the NYS Legislature, “This bill represents the strongest action that New York State can take to keep immigrants together with their families and ensure that the efforts at mass deportation do not tear thousands of New Yorkers from their communities.”

If you live in NY, follow this link to send your members of Congress a pre-scripted letter urging them to support the New York for All Act S.2235 (Gounardes) / A3506 (Reyes) to prohibit state and local resources from being used for the federal deportation agenda: https://www.nyic.org/our-work/campaigns/new-york-for-all/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Action 3: Stop Trump’s Offshore Drilling Plan Now and for the Future

From Rogan's List 1/22/26

The Trump Administration is serving as a bought-and-paid-for agent of Big Oil companies. We’ve seen it in Venezuela, we’ve seen it in his attacks on wind and solar power, and we’re seeing it in his effort to auction off more than a billion acres of our public waters previously untouched by heavy industry to oil and gas drilling. They’re netting billions of dollars on their $75 million investment in his campaign, but it’s coming at our expense. His plan would risk the health and well-being of millions of people who live along the Alaska, California and Gulf coasts, in addition to threatening economic disaster, devastating ocean ecosystems humans and wildlife rely on and worsening the climate crisis. It even might be a problem for military readiness. It’s a bad enough idea to have brought together everyone from Gavin Newsom to Ron DeSantis in opposition.

The Department of Interior is currently accepting public feedback on this proposal, many of the auctions would not take place until after Trump’s term, and there will be a major legal battle before any of this can move forward. But expanded offshore drilling has been a continued obsession of Trump going back to his first term, and we need to shut it down once and for all. A bipartisan group of lawmakers have proposed a package of bills that would permanently block new drilling off America’s shores. Call or email your Senators and House rep and ask them to push back against Trump’s drilling plan and support the legislative drive to protect our coasts once and for all.

Write your own script or use this one.

Trump’s offshore drilling plan may be great for his corporate donors, but the people who live and work along our coasts are saying no. It’s bad for public health, bad for seaside economies, bad for our military, and bad for the climate crisis. I’m asking Rep/Sen _______ to join the coalition that’s pushing back and to cosponsor the following bipartisan bills to permanently put our oceans off limits to new drilling: the COAST Anti-Drilling Act (H.R. 2881/S.1486), the West Coast Ocean Protection Act (H.R. 2849/S.1432), the Florida Coastal Protection Act (H.R. 2673), the Stop Arctic Ocean Drilling Act (H.R. 2848/ S.1445) and the Defend Our Coast Act (H.R. 2886).

If we want to lower energy prices, we need to stop sabotaging wind and solar power instead of putting everyone on our coasts at risk.

Thank you.

Make calls with the Environmental Voter Project

The Environmental Voter Project is a nonpartisan, nonprofit focused on identifying an estimated 11.2 million environmentalists who did not vote in the 2024 presidential election, and efficiently converting them into a critical mass of consistent voters that will soon be too big for politicians to ignore.

Make calls for Taylor Rehmet who is running for Texas State Senate

There is a runoff for a Texas State Senate seat in District 9 on January 31st, where union leader and machinist Taylor Rehmet is standing for Democrats against conservative activist Leigh Wambsganss. This district is more heavily weighted towards Trump, who won it by 17 in 2024, but Rehmet nearly earned an outright win with 47.6% of the vote on November 4th in a county that’s considered a bellwether.
Organized labor and Blue Texas are all-in for Rehmet, and they’ve got plenty of opportunities for us to join them. We can take shifts to make GOTV calls on Saturdays and Wednesdays here and on Tuesdays and Thursdays here.
