The decisions of young voters fundamentally reshaped the 2024 election, with their turnout dropping and those who did show up to vote considerably more likely to vote Republican than in previous years, driven heavily by the economy. With Trump aggravating the cost-of-living crisis instead of delivering his “golden age,” Gen Z is increasingly turning against him. But Democratic candidates cannot take this demographic for granted. We need to put in the work to mobilize them.

Action 3: Congress Must End Trump's Diesel Deal With Russia

If anyone was wondering how panicked Donald Trump is about the midterms, we got a very clear answer last week. He’s desperate enough to look like he’s doing something, anything about the skyrocketing price of diesel that he’s very openly trying to get Putin to bail him out. On Friday, he announced he’s planning to get more than 4 million tons of fuel from Russia on to the global market. This is, of course, in direct contradiction to U.S. law banning energy imports from Moscow, along with the sanctions bill Trump signed literally last month aimed at cracking down on their oil and gas revenues as they continue their war against Ukraine.

The profits Russia will make off this sale will be used to fuel more strikes against innocent civilians in an allied nation, and MAGA can claim a political victory. Who doesn’t win here? Ukraine, and regular Americans – the entire promised deal, even if it materializes, is for less diesel than our country alone uses in two weeks. It’s about looking like prices will drop, not actually lowering them.

Call or email your members of Congress, especially if they are Republican, and tell them they need to condemn this scam and demand Trump follow the law and cancel the deal. Write your own script or use this one adapted from 5 Calls:
