Action 1: Help Cure Ballots and Make Sure Absentee Ballots Get Counted
From Rogan's List 10/8/26
Election Day isn’t just a single day anymore. Absentee ballots are already pouring in across the country. And for reasons both completely fair and the product of rules carefully crafted to suppress our votes, some of them are being rejected. One of the great advantages of voting early, though? We have plenty of time to make sure they don’t stay that way.
Ballot curing, the process of contacting people whose votes have been tossed out for whatever cause and helping them correct errors to get them officially counted, is mostly a post-Election Day scramble. But in multiple states, they’re getting underway now. The Arizona and North Carolina Democrats and the ACLU of Michigan have begun making calls on Tuesday and Thursday nights to connect with people who need to fix their votes. This is precise but relatively light work, doing outreach to people who are mostly glad to hear from us. Sign up to help cure ballots at the links below:

Action 2: Join the Text Team and Be Part of Potential History in Texas
From Rogan's List 10/8/26
We might be in for some very big results in Texas this fall:
State rep. James Talarico remains in strong position to become the first Democrat elected to the Senate from the Lone Star State since 1988.
His fellow state rep. Gina Hinojosa keeps posting surprisingly competitive polling results against Governor Greg Abbott.
The Latino turn against Trump has given us a clear shot at electing Bobby Pulido, Johnny Garcia and even Katy Padilla Stout to the House from districts Republicans ran away with in 2024.
And the abominable bigotry of Texas Railroad Commissioner candidate Bo French has put a national spotlight on his Democratic challenger state rep. Jon Rosenthal.
One great way to get involved: the Texas Democratic Party’s coordinated campaign is seeking volunteers for its texting program. You can sign up to be onboarded at noon ET on Thursdays or 6 PM ET on Tuesdays and take on assignments as needed moving forward. Action 3: Hands Off Our Census
From Chop Wood Carry Water 10/8/26 and Rogan's List 10/5/26
Have you heard about the proposed rule change for the 2030 US Census? It’s bad! To not count all US residents would be a huge mistake and detrimental to our country. Not collecting racial and ethnic information would be an additional problem. This type of information has been collected since the very first census in 1790.
A group called Hands Off Our Census has put together information on the proposal and how to write an effective comment opposing it. It’s really well done! They provide a template and suggestions on how to personalize your comment. They’re also holding weekly information webinars on Wednesdays until the comment period closes. Their first web meeting held on September 18th was recorded and is available on the website.
The website is here: https://handsoffourcens.us/

Phonebanking Opportunities
Joe Katz at Rogan's List has prepared a list of phonebanks that can be sorted by race or day of week - check it out here: https://susanrogan.substack.com/p/how-to-help-win-the-midterms?open=false#%C2%A7phonebanking-deep-canvassnon-standard
Make calls with Citizen Action of NY to voters in Republican Mike Lawler's district (NY-17):
Tuesdays: https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/885487/?utm_source=roganslist
Phone bank with Citizen Action of NY to talk to people living in New York's 17th Congressional District about what issues matter most to them & how policy decisions at the federal level are impacting their everyday lives in the Hudson Valley.
Make calls with the PA House Democratic Campaign Committee: https://www.mobilize.us/pahousedemocraticcampaigncommittee/?tag_ids=212
Pennsylvania Democrats are shooting for a trifecta in November by expanding their majority in the state house and taking back the majority in the state senate. This would allow Democrats to redraw congressional maps, raise the state's minimum wage to $15/hr, and legalize marijuana. Shifts are available most days.
Make calls with the Environmental Voter Project: https://www.environmentalvoter.org/get-involved
The Environmental Voter Project is a nonpartisan, nonprofit focused on identifying an estimated 11.2 million environmentalists who did not vote in the 2024 presidential election and efficiently converting them into a critical mass of consistent voters that will soon be too big for politicians to ignore.
