The Big Ugly Budget Bill passed - possibly one of the worst bills in the history of the country. Let's let our senators and House rep what we think. Write your own script or use these:

If Democrat:

Thank you for your hard work trying to stop this horrible bill. While I’m devastated that it passed, I want you to know that your efforts didn’t go unnoticed. I hope Democratic legislators will get some rest, then come back and redouble their efforts to stop this fascist regime. Please make it your jobs to throw sand in the gears of every single thing they try to do. No more cooperation. No more “working across the aisle.” No more Democratic YES votes on ANYTHING. These are vicious people and should be treated accordingly. Thanks.

If Republican (except Senators Tillis [NC], Collins [ME], Paul [KY] and Representatives Massie [KY], Fitzpatrick [PA]):

Shame on you for voting for Trump’s budget bill. A rural Nebraska clinic has already announced that they’re closing as a direct result of it. Our healthcare system may never recover from what Republicans have done. Children won’t have enough to eat. Hundreds of thousands of people are going to lose their jobs. And the ICE raids that are destroying our communities will also devastate our economy. I want you to know that I’m going to dedicate every resource at my disposal to making sure you lose your seat over this vote. And if you call yourself a Christian, you should stop doing that right now. This is the most un-Christ-like bill you could design. Shame on you! Thanks.

Stop the Indiscriminate ICE Attacks on Immigrants

Every day, we hear new stories of families torn apart by Trump’s deportation machine – like Paola Clouatre, the wife of a service-disabled Marine Corps veteran who was still breastfeeding their baby. Almost all of these folks are not the public safety threats Trump claims, with recent analysis suggesting 65% of those booked into detention by ICE this fiscal year had no criminal record whatsoever and 93% were not convicted of violent offenses. And far too many of them are disappearing into the system.

I’m disgusted and infuriated by ICE’s attacks on our immigrant community. Neighborhoods are being terrorized and families separated. How is this good for anyone? Aside from the fact that it’s cruel and un-American, it’s going to cost us. Immigrants are the backbone of our economy. Entire industries depend on them. Almost all of these people are law-abiding, work and pay taxes. Many of them have been here for decades and have kids who are citizens. It’s inhumane to deport them and the economic consequences will be dire. Congress needs to step in and make this stop.

Join EPA Staffers in Dissenting from Administrator Zeldin’s War on the Environment

Hundreds of employees of the Environmental Protection Agency have publicly signed a Declaration of Dissent from EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s rollbacks (example) of environmental protections. The Declaration cites five serious concerns: (1) EPA’s retreat from science-based policy; (2) EPA’s abandonment of its mission to protect public health in favor of increasing polluters’ profits; (3) EPA’s cancellation of environmental justice programs; (4) EPA’s gutting of its renowned research and development office; and (5) EPA’s attacks on its own employees. Phonebanking: Join a Georgia Inactives Phone Bank to Reregister Purged Voters

Georgia is getting ready to purge its voter rolls of a total of 455,000 voters who are currently marked as Inactive. The Georgia Dems have asked for our help. Let’s keep the Dems registered by telling them how they can update their registrations and stay registered to vote in the upcoming election!

We need lots and lots of people on these phone banks to reach all these voters! So, sign up for as many shifts as you can. And, these phone banks are open to everyone, so please share this information and the registration link with friends and colleagues.
