Action 2: No Detention Expansion in Louisiana

From Chop Wood Carry Water 8/28/26

The Trump administration has been aggressively expanding the immigration detention system in new and horrific ways for nearly two years. Now they intend to open a brand-new facility located on a toxic waste site in Louisiana, where ICE plans to detain children and families. Right now, communities in Louisiana are fighting back to stop the La Salle Alexandria Airport Family and Child Detention facility from opening, and they need your help!

Please use this easy tool to send a letter to your members of Congress demanding that they stop this center. We need to eliminate family detention—not expand it: Tell Congress: No Detention Expansion in Alexandria, Louisiana - Action Network.

Action 3: Help Shut Down Moshannon Valley Detention Center in Pennsylvania

From Chop Wood Carry Water 9/8/26

Since reopening in 2021 as an ICE facility operated by private prison giant GEO Group, Moshannon has become the largest immigrant detention center in the Northeast—holding over 1,300 people on any given day. It’s also become a national symbol of abuse and neglect.

Detainees and attorneys have reported horrifying conditions. According to ICE’s own data, Moshannon uses solitary confinement more than any other immigration facility in the U.S. In spring 2025 alone, 147 people were placed in solitary each month—nearly double the national average.

Clearfield County’s contracts with ICE and the Geo Group expire on September 28, and the County Commissioners have yet to vote on whether to renew the contract. Let’s make sure they don’t!
