Action 1: Stand Up For Nonpartisan Science

From Rogan's List 5/19/26

The Trump/MAGA attack on policy steeped in fact, knowledge, and science continues. They have rid the EPA, CDC, and FDA of expert advisors, and now they have fired every member of the National Science Board, which oversees the National Science Foundation, a major funder of science, math, and engineering research at US universities since 1950. Trump/MAGA is also seeking to cut the NSF’s budget by more than half, and has rescinded thousands of grants that the NSF has already approved. Experts fear that the NSB will be repopulated with partisans loyal not to basic, independent research, but to the MAGA agenda.

Here are 2 easy ways to contact your members of Congress and tell them to restore the National Science Board.

1. Thousands of members of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have signed a letter to Congress demanding that the 22 members of the NSB be reinstated. Follow this link to read and sign their letter: NASEM Open Letter to Congress demanding the restoration of the NSB

2.Follow this link to send a pre-scripted email to your members of Congress: Stand up for Science | Email your Members of Congress: Restore the NSB

Action 2: Support Trans Rights

Adapted from Rogan's List 5/20/26

Trans rights are under assault in this country. Republicans think they can push this marginalized community out of public life with minimal resistance, and there’s been far too much talk within the political class and the commentariat about the Democratic Party needing to sacrifice them to win back votes. We need to make sure elected officials on both sides of the aisle understand how many Americans care and will hold them accountable for how they treat our trans siblings.

The House recently passed the PROTECT Kids Act (H.R. 2616) also known as the "Don't Say Gay" or "Don't Say Trans" bill which would require educators to disclose a student’s gender identity to their legal guardians and obtain the guardian’s consent before allowing them access to appropriate bathrooms or even calling them by their chosen name and pronouns. Schools wouldn’t even be able to discuss gender identity or sexual orientation with their students – acknowledging a student or teacher is LGBTQ+ would cost them federal funding. The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.

Call or email your senators and urge them to vote NO on this bill. Write your own script or use this one:

I am calling on Senator [           ] to oppose the PROTECT Kids Act (H.R. 2616) that just passed the House. This bill amounts to a national “Don’t Say Gay” law that would put vulnerable LGBTQ+ students at risk of parental harm, forced outing, and worsened mental health outcomes, while also punishing schools and teachers who offer LGBTQ+ youth lifesaving affirmation and support. Thank you.

Action 3: Trumps DOJ is Abandoning Antitrust Enforcement. Help State AGs Step Up.

From Rogan’s List 5/11/26

The federal government has been captured by big corporations, and under the Trump regime it has reached the point of absurdity. They have effectively abandoned the job of enforcing our antitrust laws, clearing the path for mega-mergers and further corporate consolidation. And we’re getting caught in the crossfire, subject to the whims of a smaller and smaller number of CEOs on the number of choices we have, and the quality and cost of whatever we’re buying.

Here’s the good news: state attorneys generals, particularly but not limited to the Democrats, have taken up the battle Trump’s henchmen are too corrupted to fight:

This is not an easy job. States will need to build the capacity and bring in more expertise for this level of enforcement. It will not be cheap. If they’re going to do it effectively, we are going to need them to work together, and we’re going to need to make sure they have the financial resources required to take on corporate giants in court.

Call or email your state legislators and governor (see above for links to contact info) and urge them to appropriate money designated for your attorneys general to work in coalition with other states on antitrust suits. Write your own script or use this one:

Trump's Department of Justice is giving free rein to mega-mergers and corporate consolidation. Big business and billionaires have functionally captured the federal government, and regular Americans are getting screwed over as a result. Our state attorneys general can and must step up, starting with enforcing antitrust laws. Please ensure they have the financial resources they need to work in partnership with other AGs and go toe-to-toe with major corporations.
