Resistance by Colleges and Universities
On April 22, the presidents of over 170 colleges and universities signed on to a Call for Constructive Engagement, written by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AACU), which stated their collective opposition to the unprecedented overreach by the Trump administration. You can read the full letter and see a list of institutions that have signed on here.
If your alma mater is on the list, send an email or letter to the President thanking her/him for standing up to Trump’s threats.
If your alma mater is not on the list, send an email or letter to the President urging her/him to get on board. Write your own script or use this one:
My name is _____. I graduated from _____ in [year].
I’m writing because I know higher education is under attack by this presidential administration. It’s crucial that instead of obeying in advance, you work with other higher education leaders to speak out strongly against the authoritarian tactics of the Trump administration. Please sign on to the AACU’s Call for Constructive Engagement.
Thank you for doing your part to protect our freedoms.
