Action 1: Citizens Bank Must Stop Financing ICE Detention Centers

From Rogan's List 4/15/26 and De-ICE Citizens Bank

The private prison and detention industry are making massive profits off ICE terrorizing our neighbors, and Citizens Bank is making it possible. They’ve provided more than half a billion dollars in financing each to CoreCivic and The GEO Group. And they don’t just do the loans: Citizens also arranges and coordinates complex credit and bond deals, giving them access to more than $2.5 billion, including $100 million in January 2026 alone

This complicity is a choice. A number of this country’s largest financial institutions ended their relationships with the private prison industry in 2019, under activist and shareholder pressure. It’s time to make Citizens follow suit.

The De-ICE Citizens Bank Coalition is building pressure on corporate leaders to get out of the concentration camp business. They have launching a digital week of action to turn up the heat ahead of the bank’s upcoming shareholder meeting, where they’ll be protesting on April 23rd. We can help by doing one or both of the following:

  1. Follow this link to sign a petition to Bruce Van Saun, Chairman and CEO of Citizens Financial Group, demanding that Citizens Bank cut all ties with CoreCivic and the GEO Group: https://sign.moveon.org/petitions/citizens-bank-stop-financing-corecivic-and-the-geo-group

  2. Reach out to any or all of these corporate leaders to urge them to end their relationships with private prison and detention companies.

Subject: Stop financing CoreCivic and GEO Group

To the Citizens Bank Leadership Team,

I am calling on Citizens Bank to immediately end its financial relationships with CoreCivic and The GEO Group and commit publicly to never financing private immigration detention or prison companies again.

Your team says you “engage with companies that conduct their business in a lawful manner.” Not only have CoreCivic and GEO faced extensive allegations of human rights abuses, they are central to the expansion of a system that is threatening the very principle of due process. A system that has imprisoned thousands of children—including hundreds for longer than the court-prescribed limit.

Until Citizens Bank ends its financial relationships with CoreCivic and The GEO Group, I will not do business with your institution and will encourage my community, elected leaders, universities, and local organizations to do the same.

Citizens cannot honor its commitment to fostering strong communities while profiting from companies that are instrumental in inflicting these harms. The choice is yours: align your actions with your stated values or or continue down a path that will permanently link your brand to harmful detention practices.

Action 2: Tell Congress to Support the Equal Tax Act

From Rogan's List 4/15/26

We’re big believers in the idea that taxes are an important part of building a just society, one that works for the common good. That doesn’t make paying them fun, and especially this year, the idea that they’re a unifying factor that will lift us all is hard to justify. The National Priorities Project found that the average taxpayer paid more than $4,100 for weapons, war and deportations this year compared to just $2,492 and falling for Medicaid. Meanwhile, at least 88 corporations with a combined $105 billion in profits paid not a cent in federal income tax thanks to Trump’s reverse-Robin Hood tax cuts, and billionaires paid a lower effective tax rate than the rest of us.

Contact your members of Congress and tell them to support the Equal Tax Act (HR5336/S4122) and help eliminate the loopholes and inequities that let the wealthy and powerful take advantage of this time of year. Write your own script or use this one adapted from Alan Unell Ph.D. of Healthcare Advocacy

I am your constituent and I am fed up with this administration decimating the important work that We The People need done at HHS, CDC, NIH, FDA, the EPA and other agencies. Cancer research has been so scaled back it is dangerous. Republicans cut $1 trillion out of healthcare funding over 10 years and millions will have no health insurance leading to unnecessary bankruptcies and early deaths, all to line the pockets of the wealthiest 800 people in our country. You were elected to protect and serve your constituents, not those 800 billionaires. Please work to pass the Equal Tax Act HR 5336/S 4112, which would ensure that wealthy investors pay the same tax rate on their income as working people, and would end the stepped-up basis loophole that provides unprecedented protections for family farms and businesses. Thank you.
