Action 1: Congress must extend the ACA tax credits
Adapted from Jessica Craven at Chop Wood Carry Water 10/23
Tell your Senators and House rep to extend the ACA tax credits. Write your own scripts or use these:
Scripts for Senators
[If Democrat]:
I know a lot of people are starting to get their Open Enrollment letters and their ACA premiums have exploded. This is a crisis, and if Congress doesn’t get back to work passing a bill that permanently expands those tax credits, we are going to be in a healthcare crisis that will hurt all of us. Please ask the Senator to keep fighting for this. Don’t back down. Thanks.
[If Republican]:

This is a crisis, and if Congress doesn’t get back to work passing a bill that permanently expands those tax credits, we are going to be in a healthcare crisis that will hurt all of us. I want Majority Leader Thune to bring the Democrats’ Continuing Resolution up for a vote. He has not allowed it because he knows it’s better than the Republican version. That’s wrong. We want a Continuing Resolution that permanently extends the ACA premium tax credits.

Please ask the Congressmember to keep fighting for this. Don’t back down. Thanks.
[If Republican]:
I am disgusted. Republicans are getting paid to be on vacation while Democrats are waiting for them to come to DC and get to work saving our healthcare. Meanwhile Mike Johnson is covering for a pedophile and refusing to swear in Adelita Grijalva—it’s enraging. Republicans should hang their heads in shame for their refusal to do their jobs.
Action 2: Access to medication abortion is threatened
From Joe Katz at Rogan's List 10/21
Mifepristone has been used safely and effectively in the United States for more than two decades. Forced birthers have loudly, repeatedly lied about this record in an effort to move us towards a full abortion ban, and much as predicted they are making headway under the Trump Administration. A new review by the Food and Drug Administration threatens to limit access to this essential medication.
Physicians for Human Rights is calling on health professionals and supporters to contact the FDA and ask them to prioritize science, not politics, in their review. Follow this link to send a pre-scripted message to the FDA: PHR message to FDA
Action 3: Thank these judges who are holding the line
From Joe Katz at Rogan's List 10/15
Facing threats, political pressure and a Supreme Court that has frequently not had their backs, lower court judges are still doing vitally important work to keep this administration’s power within the bounds of the law. Let’s acknowledge their work and send encouragement to keep fighting!
District court judge April Perry temporarily blocked Trump from deploying National Guard troops to Illinois over the objections of Governor Pritzker. Send a postcard or note thanking Judge Perry:
Judge April Perry
Everett McKinley Dirksen United States Courthouse
219 South Dearborn Street
Chicago, IL 60604
District court judge Rudolph Contreras issued a temporary restraining order on moving children who came to the country unaccompanied into adult facilities when they turned 18. The Trump Administration had been violating a 2021 court order against that exact practice. Send a postcard or note to thank Judge Contreras.
Judge Rudolph Contreras
U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia
333 Constitution Avenue, N.W.
Washington D.C. 20001
A federal appeals court in Boston ruled that Trump cannot write the Constitution to end birthright citizenship, upholding the ruling originally made by U.S. District Judge Joseph Laplante. Write a note or postcard to Judge Laplante for the original ruling:
The Honorable Judge Joseph N. Laplante
United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire
55 Pleasant Street, Room 110
Concord, NH 03301
