Government funding showdown: no blank checks for Trump

Adapted from Indivisible SF.

Funding for the federal government runs out on September 30th and Republicans need Democrats’ votes to clear the filibuster and avoid a government shutdown. Democrats have real leverage, and they MUST use it to protect our rights, healthcare, and essential services!

During the last big funding fight, Senator Schumer and nine other Dems surrendered, handing Trump a blank check to sow chaos and terrorize our communities. It was outright cowardice, and we deserve better this time around. Call or email your Democratic senators and Democratic House rep demanding they use their leverage to stop or reverse this regime’s damaging policies. Write your own script or use this one.

I want the [Senator/Congressmember] to - refuse to vote for and do everything possible to block - funding for Trump’s unconstitutional power grabs, even if it means a government shutdown. No Republican poison pills, no funds for ICE kidnappings, international renditions, or domestic concentration camps. No funds for military occupation of Blue cities. A restoration of all funds cut from Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA. Those things should be the bare minimum. Otherwise vote no. We cannot have a repeat of what happened in March. Thanks.

Support the CONNECT for Health Act before September 30

Adapted from Jessica Craven at Chop Wood Carry Water 9/12

The CONNECT for Health Act is a bipartisan bill that would expand the use of tele-health and remote patient monitoring services in Medicare toward the goal of cost savings and quality care. The availability of tele-health services will expire on September 30. This bill, which is endorsed by over 150 organizations, would make tele-health services permanently available. Call or email your senators and House rep and urge them to support the bill. Write your own script or use the ones below.

Senators

I would like the Senator to support the CONNECT for Health Act (S.1261) which would finally make tele-health permanently available. This availability is set to expire September 30th, and if it does, many of our most vulnerable citizens, including seniors, disabled people, and people in rural areas, will lose their health care access.

House Rep

I would like the Congressmember to support the CONNECT for Health Act of 2025 (H.R. 4206) which would finally make tele-health permanently available. This availability is set to expire September 30th, and if it does, many of our most vulnerable citizens, including seniors, disabled people, and people in rural areas, will lose their health care access.
