Conversations Along the Canal - Lockport

  • 768 E. Market St, Lockport, New York, 14094 United States (map)

On August 8th, communities across New York State will be gathering for Conversations Along the Canal, a statewide day of civic action honoring the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The goal being to inspire communities to come together to protect and strengthen our democracy.

The NY State canal system shaped the early struggle for voting rights by acting as a geographic and cultural conduit for the suffrage movement.

The most powerful tool we have is our right to vote. Being an informed voter means engaging in conversation with family, friends and community about the importance of it. Inspiring someone to register, volunteer or cast their ballot will keep voting rights strong. On August 8th, let's celebrate our shared history by investing in our shared future.

Every conversation matters! Every voice matters! Every vote matters!
